Krista Gibbs
Krista Gibbs is a native of Miami, specifically raised in Miami Gardens. In 2006, Krista graduated from Miami Carol City Senior High school then went on to attend Florida A&M University where she majored in psychology and minored in criminal justice, graduating in 2009. In 2011, she then obtained her Masters in Criminal Justice from Nova Southeastern University.
Much of Krista’s professional experience comes from the mental health field, working as home-based and school-based mental health counselor. However, it was at the Law Office of the Public Defender that Krista was able to integrate mental health and criminal justice as a Mitigation Specialist. Currently, Krista is a U.S. History teacher at Miami Northwestern Senior High.
When Krista partnered with Brittany Cooper in founding Justice For All Mitigation Firm, their goal was to contextualize the lives of people who have been labeled “delinquents”, “thugs” or “misfits”. Often times when people be involved with the criminal justice system, they are stigmatized and judged by the court of public opinion before they are given a fair trial. JFA is to explain that crime is never the result of a one-time decision but is always based on a lifetime of experiences.
